HEARTBREAKING images have emerged showing the moment a military dog handler bids a final farewell to his canine companion.
Air Force sergeant Kyle Smith, from Gastonia, North Carolina, USA, was pictured hugging his dead partner Bodza, as he lay draped in an American flag.
Bodza was put down by vets after several months of illness.
Kyle said the decision was one of the hardest he has ever had to make.
The pair served together on four active deployments before the servicemen adopted him when he was retired in 2014.
This is another reason why I stand for our flag. For those who don’t understand, Ill gladly elaborate. These K9s protect our freedom. They are fearless, courageous and loving soldiers. They are NOT pets, they are family members. Note that “Everyone fears the K9🇺🇸” Rest Easy Warrior. @sk8kow We are sorry for your loss sir. ・・・
We are so sorry to hear of the passing of MWD Bodza L608. I’m so sorry for your loss @sk8kow. Rest In Peace Bodza.
